In this memoir a woman now in her eighties looks back to a childhood and adolescence lived in the turbulent context of England in the 1930’s and 1940’s. It is a young girl’s story of finding her own way through the complex choices and changes that occur, and in this is also a deeper perspective of social history, all conveyed in the unique literary voice of poetry. About Author. Leila Marion Field was born in Sussex, England in 1929. She has been a permanent resident of Australia for many years and has divided her time between the UK and Australia.
